|
How long have you been a member of FSA (years)? I have been a member for twenty years.
Have you served FSA in the past? Yes, I have served on the Conference Committee 3 yrs.
What abilities and attributes can you bring to the Board? I have many years of public facing experience, as well as interface with public boards and committees. I have very strong NPDES MS4 experience. I have formal training in environmental and sustainability policy analysis and program development. I have served on numerous inter-agency boards and committees and have presented at many conferences, including FSA. As a scientist, I bring a broader behavioral science perspective to the conversation.
What background and experience do you have in the stormwater industry? I have around 25 years of experience in stormwater in Florida. I developed the Adopt-A-Pond concept and helped replicate it across the state. I was an early adopter of behavior change science in the industry and was part of the SWFWMD Social Marketing Working Group. I developed two educational curricula for stormwater in schools. I built and managed a volunteer-based Lake management program based in Dan Canfield's TEAM approach to consensus building. I developed an adaptive TMDL assessment and management approach, and managed Hillsborough County's NPDES program, including enforcement, training, and all other aspects. I was part of the Tampa Bay Nitrogen Management Consortium, the Hillsborough River Advisory Board, The Tampa Bay Agency on Bay Management and numerous Technical Advisory Committees. More recently I was asked to bring these skills to Pasco County where we're building an environmental division, replicating all the programs mentioned above and a more robust environmental compliance inspection element. Lastly, I have consulted, both as part of a larger firm and independently, on several NPDES and stormwater management related projects across the state.
Why do you want this Board position? I would like to leverage my experience to continue the advancement of stormwater literacy and advocacy in a state where it matters so extensively. As Florida's population continues to grow, pressure to provide reliable, clean, and beneficial stormwater management is only increasing. As a board member, I hope to carry forward the FSA legacy of innovation and practical conversations in the field.
