Jordan Varble
Johnson Engineering
Professional Engineer

How long have you been a member of FSA (years)?
I have been a member since 2019.

Have you served FSA in the past?
I have not yet been able to serve, but I am looking forward to the opportunity.

What abilities and attributes can you bring to the Board?
If elected, I will bring the same level of dedication to the stormwater industry that I bring to work each day. Every project I manage at Johnson Engineering is a team effort, and I hope to bring this collaborative spirit to the Board. My previous service as a Peace Corps Volunteer has allowed me to see the world through a unique lens, making me especially appreciative of and sensitive to other cultures. I firmly believe that protection against floodwaters and access to clean natural waterbodies are critically important to all people, regardless of background, culture, or financial condition.

What background and experience do you have in the stormwater industry?
I am a licensed professional engineer who has specialized in water resources for over fifteen years. I have designed hundreds of stormwater management systems for both public and private clients, ranging from small weir improvements to regional watershed reviews. Outside of work, I enjoy fishing and kayaking local waterways. My volunteer service includes active participation in a citizen science rain gauge network where I have logged over 2,500 daily rain reports. Whether through work or recreation, I engage with the natural waterbodies of Southwest Florida nearly every day.

Why do you want this Board position?
I am excited by the opportunity to become further involved with an association that helps shape the future of Florida’s stormwater industry. I understand the value of education and appreciate any opportunity to teach others and help train the next generation. Growing up in a working-class family, I have personally experienced how impactful higher education can be, especially when made attainable through scholarships and grants. This makes me particularly interested in serving on the Board for the FSA Educational Foundation.
