Position Description: The Village is currently accepting applications for a Water Plant Mechanical technician. This position is a highly skilled technical job in the WTP, performing duties associated with replacing and maintaining large pumps, motors and piping, installing, trouble-shooting and maintaining large rotating equipment, and assisting or leading work on the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system as needed.

Position Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Preferred candidate must have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience with water plant repair, including mechanical process and/or instrumentation control equipment

  • Have or obtain a State of Florida Level "C" Water Plant Operator Certification within 24 months of employment and thereafter maintain valid Level "C" Certification.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and conducts preventive and predictive maintenance performance tests on equipment, machinery, and facilities; records results and provides analysis and recommendations

  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, updates, and repairs or rebuilds plant equipment such as: pumps, valves, gear drives, chemical feed units, valve actuators, blowers, motors, compressors, and hand or power-driven tools.

  • Maintenance of building and equipment of the water plant and well sites, including plumbing, fabrication, and piping repairs

  • Responsible for the operation, implementation, and repair of the water treatment plant and wellfield electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, and telemetry infrastructure

  • Responsible for planning and scheduling maintenance, preparing records, and reporting in a timely manner through the CMMS system, providing backlog analysis and resource needs based on best management practices

  • Operates a variety of heavy equipment including loaders, backhoes, cranes, forklifts, as necessary


Salary Information: $49,134 - $78,615
